"Spider-Man
Spider-Man
Does whatever a spider can
Spins a web any size
Catches thieves just like flies
Look out!
Here comes the Spider-Man....."
Even though I was born at the tail-end of the 70's and the original Spider-Man cartoon debuted a good ten years earlier, I do recall watching this series in rerun form as a child.
The theme song captured the very best of what comics should be!
Excitement. Action. And fun, Fun, FUN!!
Makes me want to swing from the rooftops! Go, Peter Parker, go!

I remember this song very well and I was born in the late sixties. I think they played the reruns well into the seventies and early eighties just like you said.
Let me know when you swing from the rooftops. I want to watch.
Manon!
Yay!

I remember this song well even though I was born in the late eighties..... Please don't hate me lol.
It is a classic song though, I remember I LOL'd when they made direct mention of it in one of the movies. Whole cinema screamed :D xx
I like Spider-Man because he (Peter)ever looks like more human than other heroes...
Scott!
I don't hate you! LOL
Yes, at the end of the first Spider-Man movie, during the credits, they played the 1960's cartoon theme song!

Marcos!
I so agree with you!

The comments from both of you boys are very much appreciated!

Hi Dean,
This is a blast from the past!
I used to watch the Spider-Man cartoons on Saturday mornings.
I was also born in the 60's and grew up watching a lot of cartoons on TV during the 70's. Great memories. Thank you for sharing.:)
Fantastic!
I used to rush home from school to watch it! Oh and also "Spiderman and his Amazing Friends".
There's a lovely simplicity to it. Sometimes, I think we overcomplicate things these days!
Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Joanne!
Thank YOU for commenting!

Barry!
I LOVE "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends"!!! (Especially Firestar's sound effects when she'd transform or blast an enemy!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I appreciate hearing from the both of you!
k, dean.. i know very little about comic books... i love cartons though... i feel kinda stupid for asking, but in the spider-man clip the spiders on the front and back of his costume have only six legs... wtf?
- cheers... david
David!
Good eye!
I didn't catch that until you pointed it out but yes, Spider-Man does appear to have a six-legged emblem on his chest and back instead of the standard eight!
I'm guessing for animation purposes they wanted to simplify his design.
Maybe the animators thought no one would notice! LOL
Hello there Dean, and thanks thnx for coming over to visit my blog! Grew up with Spiderman and this was THEE best theme song (well, next to Underdog lol) ever. I really like your artwork, you're a talented young man.
Micah!
The Underdog theme song was great too!
Just found this blog ......... MORE !!!
I've fallen behind on this blog due to family issues (as chronicled on my "Exploding Doughnut" blog) but hope to post here SOON!
I'm enjoying your 'new' blog (just found it). As yet another big fan of comics, I remember teaching myself to draw with the book "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way"... it was always my favorite 'anatomy' text. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for visiting my blog, Dean, and for the walk down memory lane. I possess the strange and annoying super power of remembering the theme songs of most TV shows I watched as a kid (the Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres, for example, but could never remember the words to this one. The part that stuck in my head is "Is he strong? Listen, Bud; he's got radioactive blood," which of course makes no sense at all.
It's nice to remember the good ol stuff, and if we compare the graphics from back then till now it is amazing to see how much they have improved!
r garriott!
Someone gave me that EXACT book a couple months ago! I plan on reading it from cover to cover!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sharmon!
Peter Parker (Spider-Man) was bitten by a radioactive spider, hence his spider powers!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maggie!
Animation may have improved since then but there are some vintage cartoons that blow modern ones out of the ballpark!
Thanks to the three of you for stopping by!
Followed you over from Jackie Morris' blog (Don't you just love her cheetahs!). You and I have Taurus in common. I've had my share of dead-end jobs, too. (I'm stuck in a real hamster wheel of one at the moment!) I've got a dream, too -- just involves a different medium.
Great theme song,that and Batman.
My brother loved Spiderman and sewed himself a whole Spiderman outfit. he didn't even turn out gay!
Love your secret identity photo.
What ar your secret superhero talents?
WOL!
(Jackie's cheetahs are great!)
Sorry to hear you can relate to the dead-end job syndrome.
Let's hope both our dreams are realized soon!
UBERMOUTH!
Ah yes, Batman was rather catchy too! I secretly love Batgirl's theme song when she arrived on the show!
Oh, and your brother sounds awesome!
As far as my secret superhero talents....well, if I told you they wouldn't be a secret!
I appreciate you both sharing your thoughts on this!
You know what Spider Man cartoon I love? The one where Spider Man costars with Iceman and Firestar. I loved that show. And Firestar is such a drag queen.
Fickle Cattle!
"Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" was one of my top favorite cartoons from the 80's!
It's right up there with G.I. Joe, Transformers, The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians (last season of Super Friends), and He-Man!!
80's cartoons set the standard in how it should be done!
-Dean
I used to watch this when I was a wee little girl and I still catch the re-runs on the Retro station....all the shows I grew up with!!! you would love that network!
I'd love to see that retro station sometime! Sounds awesome!
